Jakarta, Juli 2026 - b-side and Art Labor are pleased to present A Collective Poem of Solidarity, Jakarta
Conceived by Sohrab Mohebbi, the project extends from the 58th Carnegie International, “Is it morning for you yet?”, in Pittsburgh, an exhibition that explored aesthetic solidarities across time and place. In a section of the exhibition called “Refractions,” which contextualized the project through historical examples of postwar counter-hegemonic practices, the work Poema Colectivo Revolución (1981), a project by the artist group Colectivo 3, was presented. In that work, the artists invited peers from around the world to contribute to a collective poem in response to the Nicaraguan revolution and the promise of liberation it held at the time.
A Collective Poem of Solidarity engages the present moment through recourse to the aesthetic commons. Following the ethos of its historical precedent, the project embraces an economy of means: contributions are made on A4 paper and sent by mail or carried by hand. The journey of the collective poem began in 2025 at NuMu (Guatemala City) and continues as part of an exhibition organized by Art Labor at b-side, Jakarta, with additions by Jarai artists from the Central Highlands in Vietnam.
