“Incident / Scene takes the form of a narrative fragment, which acts simultaneously as source as well as consequenceThe first part of the work touches upon the essence of a celebrity, a celebration of life as well as the tragedy it may contain. The portrait derives from a photograph of Nike Ardilla taken from her movie “Kembali Lagi” (Return Again) (1993), which through the collective imagination of her followers became an image of her actual death.
The other panel, hitherto, proposes an image of tumultuous nature that seems to transcend space and time. The image appears dark but sterile, free yet indistinct, painted with a certain sense of subject within a shadowy, fluid subjectivity. This is perhaps akin to the fragility, or sometimes even impossibility, of memory.

Nadya Jiwa (b. 1994, Braunschweig, Germany) precipitates impressions as well as images that form in her work. Consuming information, human nature is presented in conjunction with a certain composition of reality through thin movements and strokes that may at once be derived from more cognitive considerations, while departing from the intuition.
Symbolism is deftly interweaved in Jiwa’s paintings and drawings, in an attempt to distill the cacophony of interactions, information exchange, as well as the continual sophistication of the external world today. It is as if she attempts to share a certain sensibility of personal knowledge and impression that approaches a spiritual consideration. Impressions that are at once clear and yet uncanny.  Impressions of truth that seem devoid of meaning and linger.

The blurring between a shared reality in relation to a personalized imagination converse between the two panels of “Incident / Scene”. Through a muted palette, Jiwa subtly expresses herself through ripples of movement that ruminate within depths of gray; a portrait in one, a landscape in another. The imagerial references undergirding both compositions express the essence of past star Nike Ardilla, whose narrative is conveyed like petrified sediments, allowing interstices for stories and memories—rough as they may be, feeling ancient like reliefs.
The portrait blurs and leaves traces of certain attitudes, or idealized memories of a celebrity from a bygone time. A simultaneous amalgam of admiration alongside tragedy, residues, and the imagined. An image taken from the movie “Kembali Lagi”(Return Again) (1993) translated in concurrence to a real event in the life of Nike Ardilla, its main actor, who passed away during a car accident.
To commend is to own a narrative, as our memory may serve to perfect shadows within our own imagination, it’s subject matters upheld to the point of the abstract. It’s shadows and abstractions juxtaposed in an expansive mental landscapes, ambiguous spans of thought for us to absorb the noise of our current state in relation to the ebbs and flows of reality and mythology.

“Peristiwa / Adegan” adalah penggalan kisah, yang adalah sumber sekaligus muara. Ia membawa citra selebritas & perayaan hidup, mati, serta riuh tragedi. Citra potret diambil dari sebuah foto Nike Ardilla di film “Kembali Lagi” (1993) yang menggugah imajinasi orang banyak dan menyebarnya sebagai gambar kematiannya.

Panel karya yang lain, sementara itu, menyeberang kepada gambaran alam kalut yang nirtempat dan nirwaktu. Ia gelap namun steril, bebas namun kabur, hanya diwarnai dengan subjek dan dalam subjektivitas yang berbayang. Ini kerapuhan dan kemustahilan ingatan.


Nadya Jiwa (b. 1994, Braunschweig, Jerman) mengendapkan kesan dalam lebur dan timbul gambaran pada karyanya. Alam manusia sebagai pemakan informasi hadir dan terkembang seiring cernaan kenyataan digubah dalam gerakan dan guratan tipis yang segera yang sekaligus terenungkan.

Tanda hadir di lukisan dan gambar Jiwa dalam kerapatan. Sesuatu yang hanya dipercepat oleh perkalian interaksi, pertukaran informasi dan identitas di dunia luar mutakhir. Mereka menyebarkan tatanan pengetahuan pribadi dan kesan khas yang menuju khayali. Kesan tentang yang jelas namun ganjil. Kesan sunyata yang menyisa, yang mewarnai dunia dalam manusia mutakhir.


Peleburan kenyataan khalayak dan dunia khayal kecil ada pada dua bidang "Peristiwa / Adegan." Warna teredam, tapi bicara dalam riak pergerakan yang menelisik kedalaman abu-abu. Satu bagian potret dan bentang alam pada yang lain. Induk keduanya yang dari citra bintang masa lalu Nike Ardilla bercerita seperti mengendap membatu, jadi relung cerita dan ingatan—kasar layaknya relief.

Potret itu kabur dan hanya menyisakan sikap, ingatan ideal dari sosok bintang lampau. Tangkapan kekaguman sekaligus tragedi, residu dan imajinasi. Gambar adegan dari film "Kembali Lagi" (1993) diterjemahkan sejajar dengan peristiwa asli Nike Ardilla, pemerannya, yang meninggal dunia dalam kecelakaan kendaraan.

Memuja adalah untuk memiliki narasi, dan ingatan menyempurnakan bayangan. Subjek dijunjung menjadi nirada. Adalah bayang-bayang dan abstraksi itu yang disandingkan dalam gambaran bentang alam bidang kedua. Bentang pikiran rancu bagi kita dalam menyerap bisingnya dunia mutakhir dan pasang surut mitos.
